" I understand  the history of contemporary art. Perhaps the artist that I feel the strongest affinity with is Frank Stella. However, it is my history and the history of my ancestors that  calls on me to  seek deeper meaning than surface and the structural profundities of compositional elements. My working space must include a tip of the hat to approaches of the visual art forms of indigenous peoples and their connection to the natural environment".
